My Father-in-Law was a Rail Driver at Waverley Station for about 40 years he retired 19 years ago at the age of 65. He receives a monthly pension payment. But what I am making enquires about is that he has gone into hospital (The Royal Victoria Edinburgh) due to falling at home and has a hairline fracture at the top of his right leg he has been in hospital for 3 weeks up to now but with his health situation he is going to be there for sometime he also suffers from Alzimer's and dementia I do not have his ID number or whatever it is that we will need to prove who he is you would probably get that of his pension details We have paperwork from the railway which we are tryng to find and possibly send on but we do not know the address of who may deal wih this query and how to apply for any money dues. I hope that I have worded this properly and you can understand what I am trying to find what I am looking for.

Thankyou

Yours sincerely

Gerald J Robertson ( Son-in-Law.

you provide a great service with your rail news, which really informs people. like all of us you have an agenda, which you don't hide, but shouldn't you at least carry stuff you don't agree with. It would be interesting to see what Cameron and the Tories are actually promising from the horses' mouth, but you didn't carry it beyond a piece reporting a leak saying it mustn't be funded by extra cash. That's important to learn but what are they offering, railwise? You be even better if you carried rail news even from the right. But thanks for your service otherwise it's really good. Simon n

I was appalled to come accross your article on prisoners being used to do trackwork.

Since July 2006, I have applied to Network Rail on about six occasions covering about eight vacancies. They have sometimes bothered to reply, but not always. I have good educational passes and much experience since my last job. But the answer is always 'Perhaps some other time'.

Now after reading this, I guess the career I have always wanted on the railways may never materialise.

The irony is, I'm stuck in a job I hate and do not want, as is the case for lots of workers. The job itself? In a prison, as an escort. Perhaps crime pays.

Why is it that the overwhelming spin on your site is negative?

Why is it that trade unions are never satisfied until they have ruined the industry they claim to represent.

Your campaign in support of the CWU and the Royal Mail workers is frankly laughable. The Union seems to be actively trying to kill the Royal Mail.

Trade Unions seem to be self serving Dinosaurs with little regard for the UK economy.

If you want a job that pays better, then get some training and do something more useful.

Dear Robert Wilson robwilson@brushhead.co.uk who left the comment above,

you are a semi-literate, trainspotting, walking cliche of an idiot, with poor social skills and probably low standards of personal hygiene.

Please take your rhetorical questions and stick them where the sun doesn't shine.

If any of our other visitors would like to write to Robert his address is given above. He says he is "Interested in your opinions: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=676579

Hello everyone,

I am very interested in your opinions in a new venture I am considering.

I am proposing setting up an attraction, whereby there is a high quality Railway constructed for the use of Model engineers. The track would consist of scale curves, and gentle inclines, such that Mainline models such as Kings and Princesses could operate without screaming wheel flanges. We are probably talking about a mile or two of track here.

On the same site would be a guest house, or a series of log cabins. What you prefer, full board or something less regimented, so that you could get maximum Railway time, or maximum chatting time with like minded people.

Not sure what the wives would do though. Perhaps this would be something to consider. Or have a sister attractions doing sewing or arts and crafts or something?

Like I said, I am very interested in your opinions.

Many thank,

Robert."

'Nuff said.

Comments have been made regarding your web site being negative.

Is there anything positive to report? No there is not!!! other than the unions are not on their knees!

Accusations have been made regarding trade unions destroying the very industries that they represent. Thats a joke! Look at the mining industry - ship building - banking - call centres - manufacturing and now postal workers!

We defend workers interests as best we can, even though we are shackled by the government, past and present.

What are we supposed to do - accept any old piece of dross that is thrown at us and claim to be "patriotic"?

Get a life.
