35 hour week - Operational Staff, Network Rail

RMT Circular No. IR141/05
31 March 2005

The 2001 JWP agreements for Signalling and Supervisory staff stated that joint discussions would be continued on a shorter working week with a view to introduction earlier than 31 March 2006, subject to financial and operational circumstances permitting.

The issue formed part of this union's 2004 pay claim and as part of the final settlement it was agreed that there would be Joint Working Party talks commencing this year to discuss the implementation of the 35 hour week.

I have written this week to the company asking for an early meeting to be arranged to discuss how we proceed on this matter. I shall, of course, keep you advised of all developments.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow
General Secretary
